What Does Bump Mean on Vinted? Cost, Duration and When It's Worth It
Founder of ResellTrack · 400+ users
The Bump is the button Vinted offers you right after you list an item, with the promise that it'll sell faster for a small fee. The useful question isn't whether Bumps work in general, but whether one pays on your item, at your margin, in your niche. This guide covers what Vinted officially documents, then gives you a way to do the maths and measure the result.
Information checked on Vinted UK's official pages in October 2026. Vinted can change its services at any time: the price that counts is the one shown in the app at checkout.
What does Bump mean on Vinted?
A Bump is a paid feature that shows one listing higher in other members' Newsfeed and search results for 3 or 7 consecutive days, or until it sells. The cost depends on the item's price and the duration. "Bumped" on a listing simply means the seller has paid for this extra visibility. It doesn't create demand.
This guide is the deep dive behind the paid-services section of our breakdown of the Vinted algorithm, which explains how ranking works as a whole.
Bumps and Showcase: Vinted's two paid services
Vinted groups its two promotion options on its additional services to boost your listings page. Its recommended content page confirms that listings in paid promotion services are among the content the platform promotes.
| Bump | Showcase | |
|---|---|---|
| What gets promoted | One listing | Up to 15 listings from your wardrobe |
| Duration | 3 or 7 consecutive days, or until the item sells | 7 consecutive days, from purchase |
| Requirement | Listing follows the Catalogue Rules | At least 5 items listed |
| Price depends on | Item price and duration | Number of listings and their value |
| Stats | Views and interactions shown on your profile | Views and interactions shown on your profile |

How a Bump works
According to the official help page, a bumped item appears higher in other members' Newsfeed and search results, mainly to members likely to be interested in it. The UK page describes Bumps as boosting visibility in your registered country. The rules worth knowing before you pay:
- One Bump per item at a time. Bumps apply to individual items and can't be transferred between items or members.
- You can lower the price during a Bump, but not raise it. If you lower it, the Bump costs the same and you don't get the difference back. So set the right price before you bump.
- If an order is cancelled before shipping, you can re-upload the item and the Bump carries on until its original expiry date.
How Showcase works
Showcase (formerly Wardrobe Spotlight) doesn't promote a specific listing but your wardrobe. Vinted picks up to 15 of your listings, the ones members are most likely to buy, and shows each buyer an item that matches their Newsfeed preferences or search filters. Different buyers therefore see different items.
Two things set Showcase apart from a Bump:
- You don't choose exactly which items are shown. The platform does.
- It's also a way to gain followers. Members can follow you from your Showcase. Vinted states on its help page that followers are three times more likely to buy from you than other members. That's Vinted's claim, with no published methodology.
There's no refund if a listing is removed for breaking the Catalogue Rules, and Showcase is a single-use service.
How much does a Bump cost on Vinted?
Vinted doesn't publish a fixed price. Its official price list (updated 8 October 2026) says the Bump fee varies with the chosen duration and the item's price, that VAT is included at checkout, and that Vinted may change the fee if the item price changes after purchase. For Showcase, the fee and duration are shown at checkout.
The figures quoted on other sites vary from one source to the next and are often out of date. The only reliable number is the one your app shows, for your item, when you pay.
Can you bump on Vinted for free?
Vinted's help pages and price list don't mention any free Bump. The closest free equivalent is freshness: Vinted lists new listings among the content it promotes, so listing or relisting an item gives it a temporary edge. Be wary of "bump groups" where sellers swap favourites: artificially inflating interactions goes against the spirit of the platform's rules, and it doesn't bring real buyers.
The maths: when does a Bump pay?
Private sellers don't pay a commission on sales: the Vinted fee (formerly Buyer Protection) is paid by the buyer on top of the listed price, usually 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80 according to the price list. You can check the split with our Vinted fee calculator. That means the cost of a Bump comes straight out of your margin, and the whole decision comes down to one question: will this Bump earn me more than it costs?
Worked example on a £25 item
You bought a jacket for £10 and list it at £25, so your gross margin is £15. Call the Bump fee shown at checkout C. Here are three illustrative values; swap in the real amount your app shows:
| Bump fee (C) | Margin left | Share of margin used |
|---|---|---|
| £1 | £14 | 7% |
| £2 | £13 | 13% |
| £4 | £11 | 27% |
Now compare that cost with what happens without a Bump. If the item doesn't sell, plan B is usually a price drop. Going from £25 to £22 costs you £3 of margin, for good. If a £2 Bump lets you sell at the original price, it has paid for itself. If it doesn't spare you that price drop, you lose both.
The rule that follows: a Bump pays when it costs less than the price cut or the time your cash stays tied up that it saves you. On an £8 item with £4 of margin, almost no Bump passes that test. On a £60 item in an active niche, the margin absorbs the fee far more easily.
When a Bump makes sense
- Demand exists. A Bump buys exposure, not buyers. If the category and brand combination rarely sells, you're paying to show the item to people who aren't looking for it.
- The price matches real sales. As you can't raise the price during a Bump and a cut isn't refunded, the price has to be right from the start. The benchmark is the price similar items actually sell for, not the price they're listed at.
- The listing is already optimised. Precise category, brand, size, a sharp first photo, a clear title. Bumping a weak listing just amplifies its flaws. The free levers are covered in our guide on how to sell fast on Vinted.
- The margin absorbs the fee, using the maths above.
When not to bump
- When you're planning to cut the price in the next few days anyway: cut first, then bump if you still need to.
- When the item has only just been listed: it already benefits from the freshness effect, for free.
- When the niche is flooded with identical listings: you're paying for a spot that will soon be buried. Our analysis of saturation versus opportunities helps you tell the difference.
Bump or Showcase?
A Bump suits one specific, higher-value item you want to shift. Showcase suits a well-stocked, coherent wardrobe (at least 5 items, ideally more, in one style or niche), where gaining followers has lasting value.
How to measure whether a Bump worked
Vinted doesn't publish any figures on how effective Bumps are on average, and no third-party tool can know. What you can measure is your own result:
- Note the starting point. The listing's views and favourites, days online, price.
- Follow the Bump stats on your profile: Vinted shows how many people saw the item and interacted with it during the period.
- Compare rates, not totals. Views and favourites per day during the Bump versus the daily average before. More views with no extra favourites points to a price or photo problem, not a visibility one.
- Look at the result that matters: did the item sell during the Bump, and at what price?
- Compare with the niche's normal pace. If similar items usually sell within a few days at the same price, a sale during a Bump proves little. If your item had been sitting for two weeks, it tells you more.
- Keep a simple log. After ten or twenty Bumps, you'll know which categories and price levels they pay off in for you.
Step 5 needs a market benchmark. ResellTrack doesn't bump anything and doesn't know Vinted's algorithm: it shows what has actually sold. An instant scan of a niche gives you sales volume and the Median sold price straight away, which helps you set the price before bumping. The sales flow highlights the time slots that sell. And the Chrome extension shows sales of similar items on Vinted itself, with average, minimum and maximum prices. Plans start at €24 a month, with no free trial.

Frequently asked questions about Vinted Bumps
What is a Bump on Vinted?
A paid feature that shows one listing higher in other members' Newsfeed and search results, mainly to members likely to be interested. It lasts 3 or 7 consecutive days, or until the item sells, and applies to a single item.
What does "Bumped" mean on a Vinted listing?
It means the seller has paid for a Bump on that item, so it's being shown higher than it otherwise would be. It says nothing about the item's quality or whether the price is fair.
How much does it cost to bump on Vinted?
Vinted doesn't publish a fixed price. The fee depends on the item's price and the duration (3 or 7 days), and is shown at checkout with VAT included. The rules are set out on Vinted's official price list.
Can I change the price of a bumped item?
You can lower it but not raise it. The Bump fee stays the same and the difference isn't refunded, so set the price based on real sales before bumping.
What's the difference between a Bump and Showcase?
A Bump promotes one listing of your choice for 3 or 7 days. Showcase promotes up to 15 listings from your wardrobe, picked by Vinted, for 7 days, and needs at least 5 items listed. Its price depends on the number and value of your listings.
Does a Bump guarantee a sale?
No. It increases exposure, not demand. If the item is overpriced or rarely searched for, it can get more views and still not sell. Track views and favourites per day before and during the Bump to see what's holding it back.
