Vinted image search: how to find an item and its resale price from a photo

You have a photo of an item (a screenshot, a snap taken in a charity shop, a listing you spotted elsewhere) and you want to know two things: what exactly it is, and what it resells for on Vinted. A keyword search falls apart quickly when you know neither the brand nor the model name. That is where image search comes in.

Information checked on Vinted's official UK help pages (vinted.co.uk) and the app's App Store listing in October 2026. Vinted's interface changes often: if a button described here does not appear for you, update the app.

The short answer

Yes, Vinted lets you search with an image: its help page on recommendations mentions an "image resemblance" signal used when a buyer searches from a photo. But the results are similar listings, not a sales history. To know a real resale price, you need to compare against items that have already sold, which Vinted's search does not show.

Vinted has no dedicated help article walking you through photo search, and the app's App Store release notes do not mention it (they simply say the app has been optimised). However, the official page Recommended content on Vinted lists "Image resemblance" among its ranking signals: "this parameter is used when the buyer searches by image, showing items that look similar to the uploaded image".

In practice, several publications describe a camera icon in the app's search bar that lets you take a photo or pick one from your gallery. Because Vinted does not document where the button sits, it may vary between app versions and accounts.

What this search does not do is tell you the price an item actually sold for. You see similar listings, each with the price its seller is asking. An asking price is not a sale price: some listings stay up for months precisely because they are overpriced.

Three ways to find an item from a photo

Method What it finds Main limitation
Image search in the Vinted app Visually similar Vinted listings Asking prices, not sold prices; button missing in some versions
Google Lens The model name, the brand, shops and listings across the web Patchy coverage of Vinted listings, none of past sales
Reverse image search (Google Images, Bing, TinEye) Other places where the same photo is published Useful for checking a photo, not for pricing

Using Google Lens to identify a Vinted item

Google Lens is often the best starting point when you have no idea what you are looking at. It is good at recognising logos, iconic models and branded pieces that were sold in shops.

  • On a computer, in Chrome, right-click the photo on a Vinted listing and choose "Search with Google Lens".
  • On a phone, take a screenshot of the listing and open it in the Google app or Google Photos with the Lens icon.
  • To stay on Vinted, add the word "vinted" in the text box Lens shows under the image: results narrow down to indexed listings.

Once you have the brand and model name, go back to Vinted and run a normal text search with those keywords. It is often more precise than a visual search on its own.

Reverse image search to check a listing

Reverse image search (Google Images, Bing Visual Search, TinEye) is mainly for finding out where a photo already appears. As a buyer, it is a good habit when a listing looks too good to be true: if the photo comes from a brand's website or another listing, the seller may not have the item in hand. As a seller, it helps you spot one of your photos being reused elsewhere. For pricing, it adds very little.

How to find an item and its resale price from a photo, step by step

  1. Take a usable photo. The item on its own, laid flat or on a hanger, plain background, daylight. Visible labels and logos help every tool.
  2. Crop to the item. Remove the background, other clothes and hands. Image search works from what it sees: if the photo shows three objects, the results scatter.
  3. Identify the brand and model. Run an image search in the Vinted app or Google Lens, then note the exact model name, reference or material.
  4. Refine with text. On Vinted, search brand + model and filter by size and condition. That gives you the current competition, meaning asking prices.
  5. Compare with real sales. This is the step free tools miss: you need to know what similar items sold for, and how quickly.
  6. Set your price for your goal. Below the median to sell fast, around the median normally, higher if the item is in excellent condition and you can wait.

ResellTrack Lens: search by photo among sold items

ResellTrack analyses Vinted sales data; it is not a bot and does not act on your account. Its image search, Lens, covers step 5: it compares your photo with past Vinted sales rather than live listings.

Here is what the tool does, as it works in the app:

  • Three ways to start a search: drag in a photo, paste it (Ctrl/⌘+V) or paste the link of a Vinted listing.
  • A selection frame you move and resize on the photo to target the item to analyse.
  • The similar sales it identifies, with each item's sale date, a chart of sales over time and a link to view the listing on Vinted.
  • A price estimate shown as a typical range, based on a stated number of sales, with a confidence level (high, medium or low) and a price distribution.
  • Three pricing strategies: quick sale (bottom of the range), standard and max profit (top of the range).
  • Filters by brand, by keyword (model, reference, material) and by period of 7, 30 or 90 days; a custom date range is reserved for the Business plan.
  • A history of your recent searches, so you can go back to an item without running the analysis again.

If you use the ResellTrack Chrome extension, right-clicking any image offers "Search this image on Lens", which opens Lens in the browser's side panel.

One word on method: the estimate is only as good as the comparable sales behind it. On a very common model, the range is tight and confidence is high. On a rare piece, few sales come back and the tool shows low confidence. In that case, widen the frame or remove a filter rather than relying on a single figure.

Image search is included in all three plans: Starter at €24, Pro at €39 and Business at €79 a month, with no commitment and no free trial (see pricing). Prices are charged in euros.

What image search changes for a reseller

At a car boot sale or in a charity shop, the question is not "what is this?" but "what can I resell it for, and how fast?". A photo and a range of sold prices are enough to decide whether to buy or put the item back. Once it is listed, the same reference price stops you underpricing it or leaving the listing to gather dust. Frequently asked questions

Can you search by image on Vinted?

Yes. Vinted's official help page on recommendations mentions searching by image, which shows items that look similar to the uploaded photo. Vinted does not publish a detailed guide to the feature, and the button may vary with the app version.

How do I find a Vinted item from a photo if the button is not there?

Update the app first. Otherwise, use Google Lens on the photo or a screenshot, add "vinted" in the text box, then search Vinted again with the brand and model you found.

Does Vinted's image search show the resale price?

No. It shows similar listings with each seller's asking price. To estimate a resale price, you need to compare against items that actually sold, which is what a tool such as ResellTrack Lens does.

Does Google Lens work on Vinted listings?

Yes, on a listing photo opened in Chrome (right-click) or on a screenshot. Lens is good at identifying the brand and model, but it only finds some Vinted listings and knows nothing about past sales.

How can I tell if a Vinted listing photo is stolen?

Run a reverse image search on Google Images, Bing or TinEye. If the same photo appears on a brand's website or in other listings, ask the seller for a photo of the item showing a specific detail, such as the label.

Is ResellTrack Lens free?

No. ResellTrack does not offer a free trial. Image search is part of all three subscriptions, from €24 a month, with no commitment.
