How to check sold prices on eBay and Vinted, and how to price your items from them

Ask any experienced reseller how they price an item and the answer is the same: look at what it sold for, not what it is listed for. Active listings include every optimistic price on the platform, some of which will sit there for months. Sold listings only include prices a buyer accepted.

This guide shows how to find sold prices on eBay, where a built-in filter makes it straightforward, and on Vinted, where there is no equivalent. It then sets out a method for turning those sold prices into a listing price, and a buying price, that make sense.

eBay and Vinted features checked on ebay.co.uk and vinted.co.uk in October 2026. Platforms change their menus often, so labels may move slightly.

The short answer

On eBay, search for the item, then tick "Sold items" in the filters (on the app, under Filter); results cover roughly the last 90 days. Vinted has no sold filter, so you need to track sold items yourself or use a tool built on Vinted sales data. Then price from the median sold price of close matches.

Why sold prices beat asking prices

Two jackets listed at £60 and £25 tell you nothing until one of them sells. Pricing from active listings has three problems:

  • Overpriced listings stay visible. The items that do not sell are exactly the ones that stay in search results longest, so active listings lean towards prices that are too high.
  • Offers are invisible. On both eBay and Vinted, many items sell after an offer, below the price shown.
  • Demand is invisible. A listing does not tell you how many similar items sold last month, or how long they took.

Sold data answers all three. It is the closest thing you have to a market price, and it should drive both what you list at and what you are willing to pay when sourcing.

How to see sold items on eBay

On a computer

  1. Go to ebay.co.uk and search for the item, as precisely as you can: brand, model, size and colour.
  2. In the filters on the left of the results, find the Show only section and tick Sold items.
  3. Sort and filter as usual: condition, size, price range, buying format.

The prices shown are what each item sold for. Click a listing to see its details, including the condition description and photos, which matter when comparing with your own item.

On the eBay app

  1. Search for the item.
  2. Tap Filter.
  3. Turn on Sold items (or Completed items), then apply.

Using Advanced Search

eBay's Advanced Search page has a Search including section with three options: title and description, completed items, and sold items. Ticking Sold items there gives the same result, with extra filters such as exact phrases or words to exclude, which helps for common items with lots of irrelevant results.

Sold vs completed

Completed items shows listings that have ended, whether they sold or not. Sold items shows only those that sold. Completed results are useful for a second check: if lots of similar listings ended without selling, the price level or the demand is weaker than the sold results alone suggest.

How far back eBay sold listings go

eBay's help centre says completed listings results include only listings that ended sold in the previous 90 days (ebay.co.uk). For seasonal items, that means a winter coat checked in August may show mostly summer-time sales at summer prices.

Going further: eBay Product Research

For a longer view, eBay offers a Product Research tool to sellers. eBay says it covers the last three years of sales data across its marketplaces, with metrics such as average sold price, sold price range, postage costs and number of sellers (ebay.co.uk). eBay's seller centre describes it as available at no cost through the app and through Seller Hub on desktop; on mobile, you need at least one active listing, or to have listed and sold within the last 90 days (ebay.co.uk). It also includes prices from accepted Best Offers, which normal sold listings can hide.

How to find sold prices on Vinted

Vinted is a different story. Its catalogue filters are built for buyers: brand, size, condition, colour, price and so on. There is no option to show only sold items, and no equivalent of eBay's Product Research. That is the main reason Vinted sellers misprice: they only see what is for sale.

There are three ways around it.

1. Check sellers' wardrobes

Items sold through Vinted can stay visible on a member's profile with a sold label until the seller deletes them; Vinted's help centre explains that a sold listing can be deleted once the transaction is fully completed (vinted.co.uk). Browsing the wardrobes of sellers active in your category shows what they have sold, and roughly at what price. Two caveats: the price shown is the listing price, not necessarily the price after an offer, and you do not see when the item sold.

Be aware that the "Mark as sold" button is meant for sales made outside Vinted's payment system (vinted.co.uk), so a "sold" label is a hint, not proof of a Vinted transaction.

2. Favourite items and come back later

The manual tracking method: favourite a set of listings in your category across a range of prices, then check them a week or two later. The ones that sold tell you which prices and conditions buyers accept; the ones still there tell you which do not. It is slow, but it gives you both sold prices and a sense of how fast items go.

3. Use a tool built on Vinted sales data

Because Vinted does not provide sold data, some third-party tools collect it. This is where ResellTrack fits: it analyses sales observed on Vinted, with data consolidated within 24 hours, and shows the median sold price of a niche, how many items sold and how quickly. An instant niche scan returns this straight away, without waiting to collect data. For a single item, Lens works from a photo: it finds past sales of the same model and gives an estimated price range, with strategies for a quick sale, a standard sale or maximum profit. Our guide to Vinted image search explains how it works.

The ResellTrack Chrome extension adds a panel on Vinted listing pages showing sales of similar items with their average, minimum and maximum price; figures are shown from the Pro plan. Details are in our guide to Vinted extensions, and the full feature list is on the features page.

Do not assume eBay prices transfer to Vinted, or the other way round. Buyers, fees and habits differ. On Vinted, the buyer pays the Vinted fee on top of your price (vinted.co.uk); on eBay, buyers pay a Buyer Protection fee on items from UK private sellers (ebay.co.uk). The same item can settle at a different price on each platform, so price from the data of the platform you sell on.

How to price from sold listings: a five-step method

  1. Find close matches. Same brand, model or line, same size range, similar condition. Ten good matches beat fifty loose ones.
  2. Use the median, not the average. Line up the sold prices and take the middle one. One rare sale at a very high price can pull the average up; the median ignores outliers.
  3. Adjust for your item. Condition, original tags, box, size and season all move the price. Be honest: buyers compare photos.
  4. Check the speed. Ten sales of a model in the last month is a different market from two sales in three months. If items sell slowly, price nearer the lower end.
  5. Set a listing price with room for offers. List a little above the price you are happy to accept, so you can say yes to a reasonable offer.

A worked example with illustrative numbers. You find nine close matches that sold for £18, £20, £22, £22, £24, £25, £26, £28 and £45. The average is about £25.60; the median is £24. The £45 sale is an outlier, perhaps new with tags. If your item is in good used condition, a listing price of around £26, accepting offers down to about £22, is a reasonable plan.

If you want an item to sell quickly, price at or slightly below the median. Our guide on how to sell fast on Vinted covers the other levers, from photos to timing.

Use sold prices before you buy, not only when you list

The biggest gain from sold data comes at the sourcing stage. Before buying an item to resell, work backwards:

  • start from the median sold price for close matches;
  • take off any seller fees on your platform, packaging and any postage you pay yourself;
  • keep a margin that covers your time and the items that will not sell;
  • what is left is the most you should pay.

If the item is on a rail at more than that, leave it. Our free Vinted profit calculator runs the sum for you. At the scale of a whole category, the same logic applies: a niche only works if items sell often enough at a price above what you can source them for. The three checks we use are in our guide to validating a profitable Vinted niche.

Common mistakes

  • Comparing different items. A brand's premium line and its basic line can sell at very different prices. Match the model, not just the label.
  • Ignoring condition. "Good" and "new with tags" are different markets.
  • Relying on one sale. One high sale is a lucky buyer, not a price.
  • Forgetting the season. Coats, swimwear and party wear move with the calendar.
  • Copying the highest active listing. If it were the right price, it would probably have sold.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see sold items on eBay UK?

Search for the item, then tick "Sold items" under "Show only" in the filters on desktop, or tap Filter and turn on Sold items in the app. You can also use Advanced Search and tick "Sold items" under "Search including".

How far back do eBay sold listings go?

In normal search, eBay says completed listing results only include listings that ended sold in the previous 90 days. For a longer view, eBay's Product Research tool, free for sellers, covers up to three years of sales data.

Can you see sold items on Vinted?

Not through search. Vinted has no sold-items filter. You can see some sold items in members' wardrobes until sellers delete them, track favourited listings over time, or use a tool built on Vinted sales data to see median sold prices.

What is the difference between sold and completed listings on eBay?

Completed listings are all listings that have ended, sold or not. Sold listings are only those that found a buyer. Checking both shows you not only what sold, but how much similar stock failed to sell.

Should I price at the average or the median sold price?

The median is usually safer. It is the middle value of your sold matches, so one unusually high or low sale does not distort it. Then adjust for your item's condition and how quickly similar items sell.

Do eBay sold prices apply to Vinted?

Only as a rough guide. Buyers, fees and habits differ between platforms, so the same item can sell at a different price on each. Price from the sold data of the platform you are selling on.
