Vinted Account Blocked, Banned or Restricted: Reasons, Appeals and How to Avoid It

Few things stress a Vinted seller more than a message saying the account is blocked, with orders in progress and money in the balance. The good news: Vinted's rules on this are more precise than most people think, and the first step is working out which kind of restriction you're facing. This guide sets out what Vinted UK officially says, and what resellers in particular should watch.

Information checked on Vinted UK's official Help Centre and Terms and Conditions in October 2026. Vinted can change its rules at any time, and only Vinted can decide on your account: this is general information, not legal advice.

Why is my Vinted account blocked?

Vinted blocks accounts for breaking its rules: offensive behaviour, prohibited or counterfeit items, selling outside Vinted's payment system, selling commercially without Pro status, multiple accounts or fraud. Temporary bans lift automatically after 7 to 30 days. Permanent bans can be appealed once, within 6 months, through the link in Vinted's decision message.

Vinted says it will always tell you when an account is blocked and what you can do next (I can't log in to my account). If you've had no message at all, the problem may be something else.

Note that a blocked account is not the same as a blocked member (another user blocking you). Our Vinted glossary explains the difference.

Temporary ban: the official reasons

According to Vinted's ban help page, a temporary ban can follow:

  • Offensive behaviour towards members or Vinted's support team.
  • Inappropriate behaviour or pictures.
  • Repeatedly selling prohibited items.
  • Selling counterfeits.
  • Promoting sales outside Vinted's payment system.
  • Selling for commercial purposes without Pro status.

The account is unbanned automatically after 7 to 30 days, depending on the reason, and the end date appears when you log in. Vinted won't lift it early unless you show evidence that the ban was a mistake.

The last reason matters for anyone who buys to resell. Vinted's standard accounts are for private individuals; selling as a business belongs on Vinted Pro. Our guide to Vinted Pro sellers explains who needs it.

Permanent ban: the official reasons

The same page lists the reasons for a permanent ban:

  • Selling illegal items, or live pets.
  • Fraud or scams.
  • Having multiple accounts. A standard account and a Pro account with separate emails and phone numbers are allowed.
  • Repeatedly selling counterfeits, or repeatedly breaking the Catalogue Rules.
  • Repeatedly posting nude or provocative content, or uploading child exploitation imagery.
  • Repeatedly ignoring Vinted's messages.
  • Repeated commercial selling.

If you were banned for repeated commercial selling, Vinted says you may need to convert to Vinted Pro within 6 months of the ban notice.

What Vinted's Terms and Conditions add

Vinted's Terms and Conditions fill in the detail:

  • One account per person (section 4), with the exception of a separate Pro account using a different email. If your account was blocked after someone took it over unlawfully, you may create a new one.
  • No bots or scraping (section 6): you must not use external software such as bots or scraping programs unless Vinted authorises it, or "data mine, screen scrape, crawl" the site.
  • Graduated sanctions (section 7): warnings, content removal, feature blocks, then temporary or permanent account blocks, which Vinted says will be proportional to the violation. It may use automated tools to detect issues.
  • Consequences of a block (section 7): you can only contact support, your items are delisted, extra services you bought may not be refunded, pending transactions may be cancelled with fees refunded to the buyer, and payouts may be restricted. Vinted may also prevent you from opening a new account.
  • Verification (section 4): refusing to cooperate with verification requests can itself lead to a block.

Section 6 is why tools that act on your account are risky. Our guide to Vinted bots covers what they do and where the risk lies.

Account locked for suspicious activity

If you can't log in and aren't being shown a ban, Vinted's login help page gives three possibilities: you need to verify your phone number, your account is locked due to suspicious activity, or it's blocked. Try logging in with your email or your original sign-up method, then reset your password.

To unlock an account, Vinted asks you to confirm you own it (confirming account ownership), by sending through Contact us either:

  • a photo of the payment card you use on Vinted next to a handwritten note with your username and today's date, with the full card number and CVV covered; or
  • a photo or screenshot of a bank statement showing earlier Vinted charges or withdrawals, with your name matching your Vinted Balance.

Blocked IP address

A message like "Access to Vinted has been revoked for your IP" is about your connection. Vinted's IP help page gives three causes: sharing an IP address with someone whose IP was blocked, being in a country where Vinted isn't available, or illegal, fraudulent or offensive activity on Vinted.

How to appeal a Vinted ban

  1. Find the decision. The appeal link is in the Vinted inbox message or email containing the official moderation decision.
  2. Explain why the decision is wrong, briefly and factually.
  3. Attach evidence: receipts or proof of authenticity, screenshots of the conversation, proof you weren't trading if that's the issue.
  4. Send it once. You can only appeal once per decision, within 6 months of receiving the notice.

Vinted's terms say appeals are reviewed "as soon as we can under the supervision of qualified staff". If you still disagree, the ban page notes you can use a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body or go to the national courts.

Don't open a new account while you wait: multiple accounts is itself a reason for a permanent ban.

What happens to your money and orders

Per the ban page, a permanently banned user can still contact Vinted about an unban and withdraw their Vinted Balance: log in, open Vinted Balance from your profile and make a withdrawal. Vinted may refuse a withdrawal that poses a risk to members, involves a compromised account or carries a fraud risk. Pending transactions may be cancelled and the buyer refunded, per the terms. Withdrawal rules and timings are in our guide on how long Vinted takes to pay.

Paid Bumps and Showcase aren't refunded if your account is banned, according to Vinted's hidden or removed listings page.

How to avoid getting your Vinted account blocked

  • Sell as a Pro if you're running a business. Commercial selling without Pro status is on the temporary ban list, and repeated commercial selling on the permanent one.
  • One account, one bank account. No second profile "for stock", and no bank account shared between profiles.
  • Keep every deal on Vinted. Promoting sales outside its payment system is a listed ban reason, and a classic scam pattern.
  • Authenticate before you list. Counterfeits lead to a temporary ban, and repeated counterfeits to a permanent one.
  • Fix hidden listings promptly and follow the Catalogue Rules: items hidden repeatedly for the same reason can be removed.
  • Avoid automation that acts on your account: auto-relisting, auto-messaging, auto-buying.
  • Reply to Vinted's messages and complete identity checks quickly.
  • Handle returns properly, within the rules in our Vinted return policy guide.

For research, there's a safer route than bots. ResellTrack analyses Vinted sales data on its own side: niche scans, Median sold price, Trends by category and brand. It never lists, messages or buys on your account, so it doesn't change how your account behaves on Vinted. Plans start at €24 a month, with no free trial. If you're starting out, see how to sell on Vinted.

Frequently asked questions about blocked Vinted accounts

How long does a Vinted ban last?

A temporary ban lifts automatically after 7 to 30 days, depending on the reason, with the end date shown at login. A permanent ban has no end date, but can be appealed once within 6 months.

Can I get my money back if Vinted bans my account?

Usually yes. Vinted says banned users can still withdraw their Vinted Balance, unless the withdrawal poses a risk to members, involves a compromised account or carries a fraud risk.

How do I appeal a Vinted ban?

Use the appeal link in the inbox message or email containing the moderation decision, explain why it's wrong and attach evidence. You can appeal only once, within 6 months of the notice.

Can I open a new Vinted account after a ban?

Vinted allows only one account per person and may prevent you from creating a new one. Having multiple accounts is a reason for a permanent ban. The exception is when your original account was blocked after being taken over unlawfully.

Why does Vinted say my account is under review?

If you've only been told your account is under review, with no official decision, Vinted says the situation should be resolved shortly. Keep an eye on your inbox and email.

Can using a bot get my Vinted account banned?

Vinted's terms forbid using external software such as bots or scraping programs unless it authorises them, and allow sanctions up to a permanent block. Tools that act on your account carry that risk.
